HOUGHTON

That grey wool dress with the oversized camel hair coat?! The coordinating studded skirt and long sleeve cropped top?!  The winter white long hair knit dress?!

If I was attending NYFW in the bitter weather, I think I might like to pack every piece in this collection.   (Minus the furry sandals, plus a good pair of boots.)

Katharine Polk sites Katherine Hepburn and Bianca Jagger as muses for this Houghton collection.

Houghton’s distinctive look merges the finest imported fabrics, precise tailoring and exquisite details with simple, timeless silhouettes. Katharine brings her signature “easy chic” style to the line; the clothes are always wearable and comfortable.

After checking out their gorgeous website (here), I figured out that they also make possibly the coolest wedding dresses ever seen (here).  One of my favorite people in the world got engaged over the weekend, so B- this link is for you!

WES GORDON

Born in Atlanta, produced in NYC, Wes Gordon is one of my absolute favorite lines right now!

Lovely feminine silhouettes, beautiful luxe fabrics, and best of all... an INSANELY gorgeous color palette!

Set on the idea of taking part in the transformative power of fashion, Gordon enrolled in the famously competitive Central Saint Martins University of Art and Design in London. Between school semesters, Gordon honed his skills by interning with two industry icons ‐ Oscar de la Renta and Tom Ford.

No wonder.

Check out the gorgeous Spring Collection here.

HELLESSY

Hellessy was started in 2012 by Sylvie Millstein and maintains a strong focus on refined and versatile clothing.

With the founding of HELLESSY, Sylvie melded her multi-cultural background, expertise in high fashion and experience as a design-driven New Yorker, to create a collection of luxurious staples that celebrate independence, intelligence and beauty. The collection is made in America, and integrates impeccable fabrics and detailing with superb fit, precise construction, and wearability.

Quality over quantity, and all that.

I really admire a well edited closet and a thoughtfully packed suitcase.  There is something impressive about a woman that can make a decision and not need so many options to feel secure.

Know what I mean?

DELPOZO

Monday, February 10, 2014

It is basically impossible to find something truly original these days.  In fashion the trends go round and round, and almost everything is referential.

Even the grandest fashion house visits their archive regularly, reinventing a successful piece again and again.

When there is someone that is designing clothing that feels completely new, different from everything else, well that is the most exciting of all.  That is what fashion…and art is really about.  Someone that is creating, not duplicating.

I am no expert, but in my humble opinion, Delpozo is turning out THE most breathtaking clothes at NYFW.  I had high expectations after Spring, and somehow Fall exceeded them.  There seems to be such range even within this group of 40 looks.

So simple.  So special.

I can not wait to see what Josep Font comes up with next!

See my first post here.
