LAWLESS

Thursday, January 9, 2014

Before there was a John Hillin taking crazy gorgeous photographs and videos…

Back when Mary was tirelessly studying photoshop and crafting her own logo…

When she was working full time as a nurse and moonlighting as a blogger…

Photo shoots consisted of Mary, a camera, a backseat piled high with clothes (maybe the occasional sip of wine for courage), and anyone willing to take pictures.

Lucky me, I got to be a part of that.

Here is a picture from last Spring, my first photoshoot with Mary.  Such a long and crazy and fun filled day!

Now things have changed a bit, evidenced by this incredible new site.

It is so inspiring to watch someone chase their dreams and work hard enough to really make them happen!

Congrats little sister!

HAPPILY GREY

Thursday, August 8, 2013

My sister Mary.  That girl on Pinterest.  Queen of the messy bun...... however it is that you know her.

She has been killing it on Happily Grey of late and because I talk to her all the time, I am completely aware of the insane amount of work and time that she puts into her blog and her brand.

I thought I would put up some of my most favorite shots.  Endlessly critical and always a perfectionist when it comes to her images, one post is better then the last.

She works obsessively.  Honestly the girl does not stop.

She continues to inspire and encourage me to blog, and I am grateful.  More then that, I am thankful for the closeness it has brought to our relationship.  When everyone thinks that we are crazy, we find each other and feel understood.

Follow Mary here, if you don't already and stay tuned for upcoming projects together.

THE LAWLESS SISTERS

Tuesday, April 9, 2013

Both of us girls kept Lawless as a middle when we married.  How can you get rid of a name like that?  Neither of us are as rebellious as our maiden name suggests, or at least not anymore.....but that's an entirely different story.

I spent the majority of last week in Nashville with my sweet and very talented little sister.  It was literally five days of non stop fashion.  When we were not attending events we were at home hunched over our computers or in Mary's closet lying on the floor.  It was incredibly exhausting in the best possible way.

Even with good intentions there were very few photos taken.  On the final night, however, after a bottle of champagne we became determined.  In a hurry we snapped these shots before we dashed out the door.  Inspired by Mary's confidence in front of a camera and armed with some of her great advice I have plans to start posting style shots.  Not all the time, but occasionally.......I hope.

I have much more to share about Nashville and the seriously talented people that I met.  More on that soon, promise.  For now, hope you have half as much fun looking at these as we had taking them.  Oh, and Mary- thank you.  I feel so lucky to have you in my life and share this  passion with you.  Love you sister!

This gorgeous girl with all the super hip clothes, happens to be my sweet little sister Mary.

Mary started Happily Grey just a couple of months ago and is posting some amazing outfits, each better then the last!  She has incredible style and is a truly talented shopper.

Check out her blog for simple but unexpected combinations of things similar to those that you may already own, or find recently purchased by her items to pine over for yourself.

Thank you Mary for constant outfit inspiration (& workout inspiration, seriously with those legs?)

ROADTRIP

Thursday, April 19, 2012

Sorry for the radio silence friends!

We left our house this morning around 5:00 A.M. for a 12day family roadtrip. I am BEYOND excited about it! We are touring around Texas to visit friends and family and ending up in New Orleans for Jazz Fest, EEEk!

I promise to catch up on some posting now that all the prep work and packing is done, and I will have time to relax, read and share.

I have high hopes of taking lots of pictures a long the way and even share some of what I packed for such a long trip with so many stops.

I tried my hardest not to overpack, but as I explained to my husband......I certainly can not wear the same willowy and slightly inappropriate sundress to breakfast, with Grand Marmee, that I plan to wear day one of the festival.

Luckily we managed to fit everything we needed into the new, much smaller, car. Shockingly, we made it all the way here on a tank and a half of gas?! Hooray for hybrids!

On another note......until I can post more, check out my little sister Mary's blog. She has been working hard on Happily Grey and launched it today, and I'm super excited about it! Mary has a great sense of style and takes (annoyingly) perfect photographs. Seriously, the girl is gorgeous! Check it out and let me know what you think.

Mary

My gorgeous little sister came to town again a couple of weeks ago and I have been meaning to post these pictures ever since. It's always fun to raid her suitcase and see what goodness I can find. Mary has an amazing sense of style and a true passion for shopping! Seriously, the girl LOVES to shop! Lucky for her Med Student husband, she is determined to stay on budget, find great deals and save for the more expense pieces she can not live without. She is a smart shopper!

Above are some shots of the her new pieces for Spring. Her current favorite shops include: Zara and Nordstrom/Nordstrom Rack. She picks up most of her skinny jeans at the Gap. In Atlanta she found those adorable lace shorts in Fabrik, and that first dress and the big turquoise pieces at H&M. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to squeeze into those tiny things?! Oh to have that body, sigh!

The good news is that Mary is considering starting a blog, yay! I have been putting off starting a regular outfit post here, and it will sure motivate me get it done. The even better news is that Mary is moving to Nashville in just a few months. Her sweet hubby will be going to Vanderbilt and doing his residency, so I expect Mary will have lots of time to spend with her sisters. I am BEYOND excited about it!

On the adoption front, the Home visit seemed to be a great success. Aside from the teepee collapsing on me moments before our Social Worker arrived, all went smoothly. I am thankful to have that part behind us! Now we spend the next few weeks getting the remaining paperwork finished and turned in, and complete our profile. I am so ready to begin the search!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for all of the sweet notes and comments. It is so amazing to hear such nice things from friends and family, and incredibly kind coming from my new blogging friends and community. There is something really touching about people I have never met in person taking the time to support and encourage me! I am eternally grateful!
